I am always looking for any information or parts for 1914 Apperson Jackrabbit.
In 2011 I got an email from the granddaughter of Lawrence (Karen Pederson) asking if my Apperson was the one her grandfather had owned. After determining it was, she was kind enough to send me photos of the car and her Grandparents from the 50's and 60's and tell me more of the history on the Apperson. She also asked if I could bring the Apperson up in 2011 to surprise her parents Larry and Earlene Baum on there 55 wedding anniversary. That did not work out so I took it up after my 4th of July in Kokomo. (See the trip pages)
Lawrence Baum (Karen's Grandfather) from Hastings Michigan found the car in Woodbury Michigan in 1954 running a wood working shop at the Irol Wells farm. The drive shaft was disconnected at the transmission and a pulley installed to drive the overhead belt system for the wood working machines. He paid $150 for it and spent additional $1,500 restoring the dilapidated but rare Apperson in 1954-6. He and his wife took it all over Michigan on tours and shows in the 1950's and 60's. Irol and Lawrence both worked for E.W. Bliss in Hastings, MI. Lawrence was in management and Irol was a machinist, press builder and repair man. That is how Lawrence knew about the Apperson.
Karen and Tim Pederson allowed me to barrow her Grandfathers photo album. The photos below are of the Apperson in the 1950's and 60's when Lawrence and Ethel toured all over Michigan. I cannot thank then enough for the opportunity to see the pictures and learn more of the history of the Apperson.
The following pictures are of Larry and Earlene Baum's wedding day 1956 and 2014 58 years later. I tried to make it for there 55 anniversary but do to mechanical problems was not able to make it until 2014.
