Apperson in Kokomo

The first leg on my trip took me to Kokomo for the Haynes Apperson Festival and 4th of July parade. I think this is the first time the Apperson has been back to Kokomo since it was built.

I have been planning, for several years, to take the Apperson back to Kokomo when it turned 100 (it was built on 2-10-1914). In part as tribute to my Father and Mother who were both born in Kokomo as was I. He would have been 100 on July 22nd and Mom would have been 90 on May 11th. I feel they and Lawrence Baum were looking over me, the trip of 22 days and 4153 miles and went with out a hitch. I had great weather were ever I went and was treated so well by all I came in contact with. I cannot thank them enough for their kindness and hospitality.

I arrived on Monday the June 30th. Donnie my cousin had made arrangements with Bob Gollner to bring the Apperson over to see if he could help get it running. We succeeded and the car ran great the rest of the trip. I was surprised when Don told me that they wanted me to be the lead car for the Haynes Apperson reenactment run and the lead car in the 4th of July parade. What a privilege to lead the events, that made the trip even more special for me. I was also on the front page of the Kokomo Herald and the Kokomo Tribune thanks to both papers.

There are so many people I need to thank I know of the following. I am sure there are more that I do not know about so please accept my thanks for all you done.
